NZSS Girls Football Representative Teams 2021

It is hoped that the Australian Secondary Schools Girls Football team/s will also travel to New Zealand in January 2022 but this is still being considered by them.

At present the plan is to select an under 19 team to play the Australians in NZ in January 2022, assuming they agree to travel and select an under 16 Team to hopefully travel to an Easter Tournament in Melbourne.

Plans are still very sketchy due to COVID continuing to hamper the ability to confirm any overseas travel.

The girls selection process is somewhat different to the boys in that they do not have a trial process instead nominations are sought, players are talent ID at various tournaments and competitions and our Head Coach then consults with her school, club and federation contacts to select the teams.

As soon as plans for the girls representative programme are confirmed information will be sent to schools, on our website and Facebook page.

The NZSSGFA Under 19 Representative Team arrived in Thailand on Sunday to 34deg and settled into the accommodation which was excellent. The team trained Monday morning in 35deg and played their first game on Monday at 5pm against the Chon Buri Senior Woman's Team ( 3 of which had just come back from the World Cup in Canada). Lost the game 5-2 however Kennedy Bryant scored two awesome goals from outside the box.

On Wednesday evening the team went along to the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok to watch Liverpool FC play againat the Thai National mens team. Unfortunately, the team got caught up in the monsson type rain but it didn't stop the team from enjoying the experience. Played our 2nd game on Thursday 16 July in the huge Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok against the Thai National U20 Team. Unfortunately lost 5-0 but should've scored twice in the first 7 mins. We were not outclassed for most of the game but small errors were pounced on by the opposition and cost us.

This evening, the team has the opportunity to play a Tri series (45 minute games) against the Thai Senior National Team at 5.15pm and the China University team at 6.15pm which will be very tough but an awesome experience.
