Congratulations to Finn McKenlay on his signing with the new A-League franchise, Auckland FC. Finn played a crucial role in the New Zealand Secondary Schools (NZSS) U16’s 2022 Sydney Tour and the U19’s 2023 Malaysia and Singapore Tour. In 2023, he showcased his commitment by not missing a single game for Westlake Boys’ High School, contributing significantly to their victories in the NZSS National tournament, 1st XI Auckland Premier School League, and the Knock-out cup.
Finn now joins former NZSS U19 players Luis Toomey (Napier Boys’ High School) and Jonty Bidois (Tauranga Boys’ College) on the Auckland FC roster. Luis was a vital player for NZSS U19’s during our 2019 Sydney tour. Jonty, originally selected for the 2021 UK tour canceled due to Covid-19, made his mark by representing NZSS U19s against NZ Maori U19s in 2022. We extend our best wishes to Finn, Luis, and Jonty for a successful inaugural season with Auckland FC.

Due to the latest COVID-19 outbreaks Australia Secondary Schools can no longer travel to New Zealand in January 2022 and holding an Auckland camp in October is looking increasingly unlikely. We have therefore decided that we will hold a camp from the 17th Jan - 19th January in Auckland (provisional dates and venue). At this camp, players will have the opportunity to play the NZ Maori team and hopefully another game. Whilst this is not perfect, it does allow players to represent NZSSBFA.
Selected players will receive direct communication advising of future plans.
